Middle School Laptop Technology

 Rainbow Christian Academy views technology in the classrooms as a high priority.  We take pride in being innovative educators.  We are constantly analyzing ways to combine the technology experience with the curriculum and the mission statement of the school. 

In the elementary classrooms, students are actively engaged in their daily lessons through the use of Mimio interactive white boards or Smart boards.  Each room is also equipped with wireless internet, projectors and Tablet PC's.  The learning process through fun technology tools is more interesting; thus, enhancing information retention and student participation during lessons.  

Students in Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade have the opportunity to increase their computer skills by attending computer classes on a weekly basis.  Students in K4 through 2nd grade reinforce the lessons taughts in their classrooms through the use on interactive games.  Students in 3rd through 5th grade learn keyboarding skills with the goal of typing 25 words per minute.  Students also learn to become proficient on the office programs: Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel.  Computer class are one of the weekly highlights for the students.  

The Middle School program has effectively incorporated a 1 to 1 laptop program where every student has their own Tablet PC.  We strive to have an enviroment where technology is embedded into the culture of everyday life.  Every student is taught how to research, manipulate, analyze and communicate information effectively.  A 1 to 1 laptop program provides flexiblity, customization and personalization which enhance student's motivation, morale,performance, efficiency and effectiveness.  Students work out of e-books in place of the heavy hard back books that normally fill up student's book bag.  The curriculm is hyperlinked with tutorials, interactive art and activities.  The activities in the web based books can be opened in the journal writer unique to the table PCs enabling the students to complete the majority of their written work or the Laptops, save and email their work to the appropriate teacher.  

We, at  Rainbow Christian Academy, are so proud of our innovative, technology enhanced classrooms.  Students in all grades love to learn due to the various teaching styles, interactive activities and wonderful, loving teachers that make learning engaging.
